A Little Bit of History

We were introduced to Cape May by dear friends when they suggested that our families share a vacation rental house.  We fell in love - and continued the tradition for several more years, often commenting on our walks around town that it would be so fun some day to own one of the fabulous Victorian houses.

Fast forward to coming back to Cape May to vacation as a couple after saying goodbye to our parents and needing to rest and heal.  And the dream of owning a Victorian home was awakened to reality as we began exploring town and deciding where we would like to begin this new adventure.  After looking at dozens of houses, we walked into The Breakers and knew this was the “one.”  In May of 2011, we became the proud owners and began to make the necessary renovations to offer it for summer whole house vacation rentals.  During our stays in Cape May overseeing these improvements, we would walk by The Abbey, a quintessential Cape May landmark property, and couldn’t help notice that it was offered for sale and desperately needed love.  We toured the house, I.C. was completely enamored, saying it was a “man’s house,” and we purchased it in March 2012.  Between April and July, we completely renovated the property and offered it for whole house vacation rentals in late July.

In May 2013, we sold our home in Maryland and have since made our home in West Cape May, where we can have a very hands-on approach to caring for these two properties and our guests.

We hope you will choose The Abbey or The Breakers for your Cape May vacation, gathering, or event lodging. We know you'll fall in love, too.
